Little Dreamer

Yeah! Finally bought a crib set that's pink and girlie. Okay, so there is a Disney castle, birds and flowers but "little dreamer" rather than princess works for this Mom to be. I have to admit that I am also a big Disney fan and can sing you a few songs.. just ask.. well, maybe I'll just warble a lullaby for our daughter.

In Search of a crib set

Today, went shopping for a crib set. As I looked closely at the patterns, I saw: 1) cutsy bugs, butterflies- okay bugs freak me out and butterflies kind of remind me of a maroon butterfly that I see almost daily; 2) princess patterns-what message is that sending? There were a few others but nothing that floated my boat.... at least for today... there is always tomorrow.

We are number 1!!!

Yep, we are number one and waiting for a referral. Very heart wrenching knowing that our daughter is alive and many miles away from us. We are not yet paper ready to go and meet her.

We are waiting for immigration approval and a letter stating that we can fly to the RMI. Once we are officially matched with our daughter, then we will get a picture, age, medical and social history.

Vaccinations

We got vaccinated today in preparation for our trip. Ouch the Hepatitis A shot hurt and another in 6 months. No need for Hep B since I already was vaccinated and Kurt will only be in country for 2 weeks. We are taking a series of pills to prevent typhoid. Maybe this is TMI but we have meds for the inevitable traveler's diarrhea. Got a list for OTC topical ointments too.

Getting ready for RMI

Diaper bag that fits our lap top - check. Ergo baby carrier- check. Well, that's all that we have so far. It is very difficult to know what to buy since we are not sure about the age of our daughter. Convertible crib or toddler bed? Who knew that there is so many choices with someone like me with very limited baby intelligence.... well at least at this time.

It all began in July 2008

We began our adoption journey in July 2008. Here it is January 9, 2010 and we are still plugging along the path of adoption. I'm calling it a paper pregnancy and we are almost due. The first trimester- the home study and meeting Illinois requirements. Life moves and with each change, there is yet another step to be completed and another stone to turn. The second trimester- fulfilling US and Republic of Marshall Islands ( RMI)  requirements. More changes means more paper labor. We are pretty close to the the third trimester...
